MODERN MINIMALISM

When some people think about fashion, more often than not, crazy trends and avant-garde designs tend to come to mind. Much of the time, embellishments, prints, sequins and even feathers are incorporated into the most recent trends. I believe however, this does not ALWAYS have to be the case! While of course I love seeing the most lavish and over-the-top designs from the runway, I think there can also be beauty in minimalism. Although my style is constantly changing, one look I am always drawn to, is one that is modern and minimal. This type of style can be achieved with simple silhouettes, clean lines and muted colors.

My outfit includes a simple, black, long-sleeved shirt, but contains a unique bow detailing on the sleeve. Experimenting with different sleeve types is a perfect way to incorporate detail, while still remaining minimalist. This top is so versatile and can be worn many different ways, which is a major plus.

Instead of pairing the top with a basic pair of black jeans, I opted for a distressed, dark blue wash to add interest. The slight distressing does not distract from the rest of the outfit, but adds a casual element. Stitch detailing towards the bottom, incorporates a unique touch to a rather plain pair of jeans.

To finish off the look, I added a few pieces of cohesive, gold jewelry to accessorize. Adding subtle metallics to an outfit is a great way to appear more modern and refined. Lastly, you can never go wrong with black, low ankle boots because they can be worn with practically any look! Even try swapping them with a pair of wraparound heels to transform your outfit from day to night.
